01 Sep Good News for Dealers: U.S. Auto Sales Up for August

Despite the fact that Labor Day weekend comes too late this year to be counted amid August’s sales totals, U.S. automakers posted impressive sales last month. Ford reported a sales increase of 5.4 percent, Fiat Chrysler reported an increase of 1.7 percent sales, and while General Motors reported a minor sales drop of 1 percent, their numbers still came in above August estimates. Overall, the SAAR is still on track to top 17 million for the year-- in fact, Autodata reports that August sales increased to an annualized pace of 17.81 million over the previously-expected 17.31 million. 31 Aug Google Chrome to Pause Flash Ads Starting Sept. 1

Starting September 1, the popular Google Chrome browser will no longer support Flash ads-- or any Flash content that isn’t “central to the webpage” on a given site. The reason behind Google’s decision is that many consumers find Flash ads to be more of a nuisance than anything else-- these ads often autoplay and can slow down a browser, particularly when the consumer is on a mobile device, or even drain the battery of a laptop or device faster.
