12 Oct Mobile Searches Top Desktop Searches Worldwide, Google Reports

Mobile isn’t just the future of search-- it’s also the present. Google recently announced that, for the first time ever, mobile searches officially outnumber desktop searches worldwide. Previously, mobile had outpaced desktop in terms of search across 10 different countries, but this is the first time that’s been the case when data from all countries was factored in. Desktop searches haven’t decreased to make room for mobile searches-- internet users are simply searching more frequently, and a larger percentage of those searches now happen on mobile devices. This is, in part, because users always have a device within reach. This is particularly...

Overall, the SAAR is still on track to top 17 million for the year-- in fact, Autodata reports that August sales increased to an annualized pace of 17.81 million over the previously-expected 17.31 million. 31 Aug Google Chrome to Pause Flash Ads Starting Sept. 1

Starting September 1, the popular Google Chrome browser will no longer support Flash ads-- or any Flash content that isn’t “central to the webpage” on a given site. The reason behind Google’s decision is that many consumers find Flash ads to be more of a nuisance than anything else-- these ads often autoplay and can slow down a browser, particularly when the consumer is on a mobile device, or even drain the battery of a laptop or device faster. By pausing these ads, users can determine whether they want an ad to play or not. Flash-based ads are also notorious for...
