21 Apr Get to Know Force: Max Grinchenko
Each week, we’ll be highlighting a key Force Marketing team member here on the blog. Get to know our team a little better, starting today with Software Developer Max Grinchenko!
Q. What’s your role at Force, and what does it entail?
I am a software developer who has been working on everything from Forcetell to Helix to tiny lines of code on clients’ websites. I get to hear the awesome ideas that everyone in our company has, and I try my best to make them happen (hopefully adding a little bit of personal flair in the process).
Q. What’s your favorite thing about what you do here?
I think we have a great collaborative environment on the third floor. Jacob, Angel, and Alex are all super smart and willing to help. I’ve learned a lot about my craft by listening to what they have to say. I’ve also had the chance to learn a lot about fields I never knew I had interest in but now find fascinating — such as digital advertising, the front-end design process, and the theory behind reverse engineering Crusader Kings 2.
Q. Tell us a little bit about yourself outside of work.
I’ve been to nearly every major historical site and major city in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana, as well as about 16 Georgia state parks. When I am in Atlanta, I mostly wander the streets following my nose for the next great restaurant I can discover. I am an avid Ultimate Frisbee player, and can throw a disc about 80 yards. I once tried to throw a Frisbee across a lake, and I lost it instead.
Q. What’s your dream travel destination?
I’ve always wanted to see Baghdad (or any major city in the Middle East), but that probably won’t happen anytime soon. I loved living in Alaska, and hope to go back some day.
Q. Did you have any sort of automotive background before Force?
Q. What’s your dream vehicle?
2006 Hyundai Sonata — black.
Q. What song would be your theme song?
Sitting on the Dock of the Bay
Q. Who would play you in the movie of your life?
Q. What advice would you give to a new employee at Force?
Come with ideas — I think that’s valued at Force, and I don’t think that’s the case at a lot of companies.
Q. What’s your favorite quote?
“I hate it when I go to turn my phone screen off, but it turns off the second before I turn it off, so I just turn it on again.” – Jacob Smallwood
Q. Any weird talents or facts about you?
I’m fluent in Russian and can play a little bit of flamenco guitar.
Q. Anything else you’d like people to know?
Old Russian proverb: “A genius invented the car, but a coward invented the brakes.”
