Each week, we’ll be highlighting a key Force Marketing team member here on the blog. Get to know our team a little better, starting today with Sr. UI/UX Designer Rachel Wood!

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

Q. What’s your role at Force, and what does it entail?

I wear a couple of hats right now. I am the UI/UX Designer for all of our software products, as well as the Product Owner for the development team. As the UI/UX Designer, I work towards making the user’s experience as intuitive and as attractive as possible. As Product Owner, I am the go-between for development. I handle all future work requests, manage the backlog, and am working with the dev team on incorporating agile development methodologies. I am pretty excited about what development has coming for this year in Helix.

Q. What’s your favorite thing about what you do here?

I’ve always found it very satisfying to take a nebulous idea or problem and turn it into concrete product that our customer base can find value in. There is nothing more enjoyable than meeting the needs of our customers, and even surprising them with features they didn’t know they needed.

Q. Tell us a little bit about yourself outside of work.

I like to pretend I have a green thumb by buying new plants for my patio only to have them die on me very quickly. I honestly don’t know what I am doing wrong. But for those first two glorious weeks, my patio looks gorgeous and is the perfect setting for reading a good book with a fine glass of wine.

Q. What’s your dream travel destination?

My wanderlust is mighty. I want to go just about everywhere. I am hopefully taking a trip this year to Paris with my best friend for our dirty thirty.

Q. Did you have any sort of automotive background before Force?

I’ve been in the auto industry for almost 4 years at this point.

Q. What’s your dream vehicle?

I have fantasized about riding a Velociraptor. I really want to be able to hop off my Raptor and have it attack people who are dangerous in traffic. I am also pretty sure this is why I don’t have superpowers. I’d probably turn into a supervillain within a week.

Q. What song would you pick to be your theme song?

I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by the Proclaimers

Q. Who would play you in the movie of your life?

I wish it would be the eternally cool and well-poised Emma Watson. However, she would probably be re-cast with Amy Schumer. No, Kat Dennings. Yeahhhh… her.

Q. What advice would you give to a new employee at Force?

First day, jump into the deep end. You’ll adjust to whatever gets thrown at you, so just go for it.

Q. What’s your favorite quote?

Q. Any weird talents or facts about you?

I have about 9 titanium pins in my skull.
