29 Sep Get to Know Force: Elijah Thao
Each week, we’ll be highlighting a key Force Marketing team member here on the blog. Get to know our team a little better, starting today with Director of Digital Marketing Elijah Thao!
Q. What’s your role at Force, and what does it entail?
I’m the Director of Digital Marketing. I oversee the processes and resources of my team to ensure they can execute their roles successfully in smooth alignment with other departments. (I’m the ninja master and am responsible for training my students in the secret tactics of stealth infiltration and assas…ments.)
Q. What’s your favorite thing about what you do here?
My favorite thing about what I do here would be watching the personal and professional growth of my team members. It makes me happy if I can be a factor in helping someone move the needle toward their goals and be a positive influence on their lives while teaching them a thing or two, and also learn a thing or two from them.
Q. Tell us a little bit about yourself outside of work.
Not long ago I decided I want to learn Spanish since it’s so widely used. I’m no good at it, but spend time trying to learn a few words each day in hopes of being able to understand and communicate in general conversations.
Q. What’s your dream travel destination, or favorite place you’ve ever traveled?
My dream travel destinations would be Japan and South Korea. Being raised in an Asian household and spending a lifetime learning martial arts that originated in those countries has always made those destinations appealing to me.
Q. Did you have any sort of automotive background before Force?
Yes, I worked at the corporate location for AMSI, one of the largest private automotive groups. I was tasked with building and managing their internal SEO team. Before that, I did some web design work for select dealers.
Q. What’s your dream vehicle?
I’d be pretty happy with a Subaru WRX STI 😉
Q. What’s your theme song?
Lose Yourself by Eminem lol
Q. Who would play you in the movie of your life?
Arnold Schwarzenegger because I feel it’d be hilarious.
Q. What advice would you give to a new employee at Force?
Always be proactive. If you ever find yourself doing nothing, something’s wrong, since there should always be something to do or learn to help us move forward as a company.
Q. What’s your favorite quote?
Most people who talk to me long enough will eventually hear me say “a loud, confident idiot can go further than a quiet, shy genius.”
Q. Any weird talents or facts about you?
I can overextend my shoulder blade? I also eat waaay too much Kung-Fu ramen.
Q. Anything else you’d like people to know?
I’d pick a homemade steak with A1 sauce and a side of freshly-made, warm white rice doused with bottled water over an expensive, fancy steak any day.
Stay tuned for next week, when we’ll be getting to know another Force Marketing team member! Want to be a part of our incredible team? Take a look at the open positions on our Careers page!
